I received two bachelor degrees in Biology and Psychology from the University of Mississippi in 2010. I began research with Dr. Day in January 2009 as an undergraduate.  My undergraduate research tested the effects of a natural product, Schizandrin, on Swiss Webster mice and zebra finch spatial learning abilities with impaired Acetylcholine systems.  After graduating, I continued working with Dr. Day as a master’s student.

My current research is on the neuroprotective effects of estrogen on the cerebellum.  Specifically, I am testing the effects of estrogen in the cerebellum on cognition and motor tasks in 65+ year old post-menopausal women.  This research is important in assessing the implications of estrogen replacement therapy on aging individuals.  Additionally, we are hoping to find that estrogen may help stave off age related decline seen in motor and cognitive abilities.
